DOCUMENTATION / REFERENCE 1.0.0
Start with the contracts.
Eventus Engine connects bounded runs, approved context, versioned workflows, and attributable decisions. This reference describes the inspected Python implementation at revision 7897a80.
This is an architecture and local-code reference. There is no public SDK, hosted API, or installation service offered by this preview.
INTRODUCTION
A run carries its boundaries with it.
Start with a workflow identity and version. Bind the run to one namespace and a context version. Review the artifact and intended effect before authorizing a consequential action. Link outcomes to those same records.
- Namespace
- An exact identifier for a governed scope. A parent identifier does not imply access to a child.
- Run
- One invocation of a workflow, with its own identity, mode, references, timestamps, and status.
- Workflow
- A versioned process definition declaring inputs, outputs, capabilities, approval requirements, and resource limits.
- Context
- A versioned record of source references, provenance, applicability, approval status, and reuse scope.
- Artifact
- A referenced output with a content hash. Approval must match the reviewed artifact.
- Approval
- An attributable decision for a particular run, artifact, action, and scope.
- Task alias
- A stable routing name, such as general, independent of a model vendor. It does not mean a live provider is configured.
- Knowledge proposal
- An evidence-linked candidate for reuse. Promotion requires review and does not itself authorize production activation.
CURRENT CONTRACT FIELDS
Schema version 1.0.0.
These field inventories come from the current run, workflow, context, approval, and knowledge JSON Schemas. All listed keys are required to be present. Some allow null. Additional properties are rejected.
Namespace identifiers are at most 128 characters. They allow alphanumeric segments, underscores, and hyphens separated by dots. Workflow versions use three numeric components. Content hashes use a sha256 prefix and 64 lowercase hexadecimal characters. Canonical runtime timestamps use UTC with +00:00.

A run schema accepts a production mode value. That does not enable production execution. The reference orchestrator disables production by default and requires explicit namespace authorization.
EXECUTABLE LOCAL REFERENCE
Inspect one dry-run envelope.
The inspect-run.py reference file constructs a synthetic run, validates its schema, uses a pure in-memory handler, and confirms that a parent namespace grant is rejected. It makes no model, tool, database, or network call.
Save the file as inspect-run.py in the root of an existing authorized engine checkout, then run:
PYTHONPATH=src python3 inspect-run.pyParent namespace grant rejected: expected.
Pure in-memory handler completed. No external effect requested.Inspect the complete synthetic run-envelope JSON. The downloadable payload is validated against the same schema and is independent of any tenant data.
The reference orchestrator calls a handler supplied by the caller. This example uses a pure function. Do not pass an effectful handler and assume the mode will suppress its behavior.
Repeat the scoped repository checks.
Both commands below passed locally against 7897a80 on October 17, 2026: 4 foundation tests and 22 state tests.
python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -p test_foundation.py -v
python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -p test_state.py -vPREREQUISITES
Use an existing authorized checkout.
- Python 3.11 or later. The example was checked with the local Python interpreter.
- Eventus Engine source at revision
7897a80, including itssrc/andschemas/directories. - The checkout’s existing dependencies. The core project declares
jsonschema >=4.18,<5andPyYAML >=6,<7. - Existing permission to access that source. This preview does not grant repository access or a distribution license.
LIMITATIONS
Local semantics have a defined scope.
The reference demonstrates local schema validation and namespace authorization. It does not exercise a deployed service, a model provider, Hermes, production identity, encrypted storage, or an external effect executor.
The complete engine suite is not green in the inspected environment: 24 of 144 tests errored because a downstream dependency, cryptography, is missing. The scoped commands above pass. Production readiness remains unestablished.
